Forgiveness – An Essential Quality for a Christian: Join the Patricians May 13th to discus how we can better become a people of Mercy and Forgiveness.

During Easter and Mercy Sunday we remember Our Lord’s great mercy and what He suffered to redeem us.  Yet, if we are to be forgiven by God, we must be a people of mercy and forgive as God has forgiven us.  Forgiveness is motivated by obedience to God and his command to forgive.  Forgiveness is  a prominent theme in the Bible and in Jesus’ mission.  Yet, it’s not uncommon for Christians to have questions about forgiveness.  The act of forgiving does not come easy for most of us.  Our natural instinct is to recoil in self-protection when we’ve been injured.  We don’t naturally overflow with mercy, grace and understanding when we’ve been wronged.  This means we must look for opportunities to forgive and always be ready to start over, even when someone has betrayed us ‘seventy times seven times.  We definitely need to understand what Jesus says about forgiving and how God will measure His forgiveness toward us.  We learn from Scripture, if we don’t forgive, neither will we be forgiven.  Come join the Patricians on Monday, May 13th at 7:00 pm in the acolyte room as we discuss how we can better become a people of Mercy and Forgiveness.
