Sacred Music as a Powerful Form of Prayer talk on May 18

April 28, 2026 3:45 pm

Join us for an inspiring Patricians presentation and discussion on sacred music, exploring how sung prayer can elevate your heart and mind to God – without even having to be a good singer yourself. Drawing on Scripture and the rich tradition of the Church, we’ll see what’s behind the saying, “He who sings prays twice,” and how composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Haydn, Palestrina, and Duruflé transformed the sung prayers of the Mass into classical masterpieces. You’ll discover how listening to Gregorian chant, polyphony, oratorios, or other sacred
works can become a daily way of praying.
Come and learn how sacred music can deepen your prayer life, awaken awe, and
help you encounter God in a new and profound way. Monday, May 18, 7pm in
the Acolyte Room (just below the last three stations).
