Brief History

St. Veronica Catholic Church was established on June 17, 1999 and celebrated its first mass in August 1999 at Community of Faith United Methodist Church in Herndon, Virginia.  Parish boundaries were drawn from the parishes of St. Timothy in Chantilly, St. John Neumann in Reston and St. Joseph in Herndon.  St. Veronica Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Chantilly Virginia, fully united with the Bishop of Arlington and the Pope, the Bishop of Rome.  Our parish school’s website can be found at www.stveronicaschool.org.

In 2012, St. Veronica began sharing the parish facility with the Vietnamese Catholic community, Our Lady of La Vang. Devotion to Our Lady of La Vang began during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, a period of great persecution against Catholics in Vietnam. Many sought refuge in the La Vang forest where Our Lady appeared to the refugees bearing the Christ Child in her arms and assuring them that their prayers were received with maternal generosity. The Basilica of La Vang, built after the persecutions ended, was destroyed during the Vietnam War, but a Marian shrine currently stands next to the destroyed building.  There is a lovely statue of Our Lady of La Vang near the Adoration Chapel.  Please click here for information on Our Lady of La Vang mass times and sacraments.

Parish Mission

We believe in the universal call to holiness; that every human person is called to be a saint. Our parish mission is to form a loving and welcoming community anchored in the truth of Catholic teaching as taught by the magisterium of the Church and faithful to the Holy Father. The worship of God is our priority, the source and summit of our Christian life as a parish family. Education and evangelization in the faith is our major apostolate for parishioners and others of all ages. Our love for God pours forth in our commitment to the works of mercy and fellowship with one another.

Faith Direct

St. Veronica Catholic Church is participates in the Faith Direct program.  Faith Direct is a planned electronic giving program principled in the stewardship model that with sacrificial giving, we place God first and ourselves second.  Faith Direct is a vehicle in which we can carefully consider our sacrificial giving and decide how we can consistently give back to God from the treasures He gives to each of us.

Stewardship is NOT fundraising.  The beauty of stewardship is that when a parish fully embraces the spirituality of giving back to God a portion of the gifts He gives to each of us we still need to give, but we need to plan to give from our first fruits, not from what is left over in our wallets at the end of the week.

Please prayerfully consider your participation in the Faith Direct program.

What Does it Mean To Be an Active Catholic?

Frequently, those seeking to celebrate Marriage, have children baptized, or serve as sponsors for Confirmation or Baptism request a letter stating that they are parishioners who are active, practicing Catholics qualified to be a sponsor.  To receive such a letter, one must be registered in the parish (see above), attend Mass regularly, and be committed to a stewardship of time, talent and treasure. We encourage parishioners to become active in one of the parish organizations. In a community as large as St. Veronica, one means of verifying participation is through the use of parish offertory envelopes or Faith Direct. If you choose not to participate in the support of the parish, or are unable to contribute at this time, please at least note your prayerful support on your envelope and place it in the weekly offertory. We will then be aware of your continued participation, and you will be noted as an active and participating member of the parish community.
