Celebrate Saint Veronica’s Parish Feast Day, Friday, July 12th

July 3, 2019 1:46 pm

Although not listed on the universal liturgical calendar, the feast day of  Saint Veronica is July 12th.  As our patroness, we are encouraged to celebrate her patronage, and on her feast day all of our Masses at the parish are raised to the status of solemnities – the highest ranking of feasts.

A plenary indulgence may be attained on this day for all who visit Saint Veronica Church with the intention of gaining the indulgence, granted that they pray the Lord’s Prayer and the Creed and fulfill the remaining requirements with the intention of gaining the indulgence:  (1) Eucharistic Communion; (2) sacramental confession; (3) prayer for the Holy Father; and

4) freedom from attachment to all sin, even venial.  These remaining requirements are to be fulfilled within a few days — traditionally, one week — before or after July 12th, although it is fitting to pray the prayers and receive Holy Communion at Saint Veronica Church on her Solemn Feast.

In addition to the regularly scheduled daily Masses at 8:30 am and 12:15 pm, we will honor the Feast of Saint Veronica with a Holy Hour of Adoration at 6:30 pm and Mass at 7:30 pm.  A celebratory reception will follow the 7:30 Mass in the parish hall.
